An Ocean County man is in jail after two unsuccessful robbery attempts Saturday in Egg Harbor Township, police said.
Mark Stackhouse, 30, of Tuckerton, allegedly told a 7-Eleven cashier that he had a gun in his pocket and would shoot her if she did not give him money.
The cashier refused, and the man fled.
Police were called to the business at 2612 Tilton Road at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Mark Mensch said.
Officer Thomas Rizzotte located Stackhouse in the parking lot of the nearby Wawa, where he fled, according to the report.
An investigation found that Stackhouse also tried to rob a person in the 7-Eleven parking lot, but was refused there as well, Mensch said.
Stackhouse was charged with two counts of robbery and he was lodged in Atlantic County Justice Facility.
He was just released from the Ocean County jail March 28, four days after he was arrested on an apparent warrant involving a case from last summer, when he was charged with simple assault, hindering and drug possession, court records show.
Stackhouse was taken in after he was arrested by Absecon police March 24, and issued a summons for hindering.
