Atlantic City area weekend includes Earth Day offerings

  • Things To Do

Earth Day is celebrated around the world every April 22, to bring focus to environmental issues.

Here in South Jersey, there are two events offshore to mark the occasion.

Earth Day Festival

Every year around Earth Day, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) has a celebration. This year, the 32nd Annual Earth Day Festival is Sunday from 10:00a.m. – 4:00p.m at Environmental Park in Egg Harbor Township. It’s fun, family-friendly and free. Make a point to stop by for a relaxing afternoon.

Bring money if you want to eat or shop. But you won’t need any for parking, tickets or the sea of giveaways available around the festival.

Upon arrival, you can expect to be handed a reusable shopping bag that you can fill with free swag like seeds, light bulbs and plants from dozens of community organizations. You can ask plenty of questions from their staff and volunteers too.

There are educational children’s activities like eco-hayrides, a fossil dig and a nature walk. Plus, there will be free workshops on things from houseplants to sourdough starters. No reservations required. Just show up.

Food trucks, live music and more than 150 vendors will be on hand.

Email the ACUA with any questions.

Come out and hear their unique soul music.

Two of their original members have been slinging hits since the 60s with that high-octave, falsetto sound.
