An Atlantic City man was sentenced to three years in prison on a gun charge.
Angelo Williams, 19, faced a term of five years, after pleading guilty in March.
He was arrested Sept. 29, after police received information about an armed man.
It was Williams' first adult arrest, but his juvenile history "is quite reprehensible," Assistant Prosecutor Harlee Stein said at his detention hearing at the time.
Officers responded to 30 N. Arkansas Ave. about the armed man, and found Williams, who started to walk away, according to the report.
He stopped when ordered, and the officer immediately felt the handle of a gun at his waist while frisking Williams.
Williams began to bend at the waist to break the officer’s control but was quickly taken into custody with the assistance of other officers, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
The officer removed a tan-and-black 9mm handgun, which was unlabeled and not imprinted with a serial number. It as also equipped with a 15-round large-capacity magazine, which contained nine bullets, with one in the chamber.
Williams remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting transfer to state prison. He must serve at least a year before he is eligible for parole.
