The pools for the Preliminary Phase of the Paris Olympics' volleyball tournaments for men and women are fast approaching. It will be formed by drawing lots, which will take place right after the qualification round ends.
The draw for each gender will commence at the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 Finals. On June 19, 2024, the 12 women's national teams that have qualified for Paris 2024 will take part in the draw in Bangkok, Thailand, at 18:00 local time (11:00 GMT).
On the other hand, the qualified male teams will be announced after the VNL Finals on June 26, at 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT). Volleyball World's YouTube channel will broadcast both events live, much to the delight of Paris Olympics betting fans.
The countries that won the Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers in 2023 are guaranteed a spot in the games. These include countries like Brazil, Poland, Serbia, and the US.
France, the host nation, and other countries like Brazil, Japan, and Canada that advanced from the Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers are all competing for a spot in the men's tournament. They will be competing until the VNL 2024 Preliminary Phase ends on June 23, 2024.
Drawing lots will divide the 12 national teams for each gender into three groups of four. FIVB Volleyball World Rankings as of June 17, 2024, for women and June 24 for men will decide who wins Pool A.
France will have the top team in Pool A for both men and women. Pools B and C will have the top teams chosen by the approved national teams based on their ranking.
Then, there will be three stages of the draw. Teams in 4th to 6th, 7th to 9th, and 10th to 12th places will be put in their pools using a serpentine system.
During group play, each team will play all three of its opponents once. The top two teams in each pool, as well as the two best teams in third place, will move on.
A group tournament ranking system will then determine the seeds for each team in the Final Phase bracket. The games will continue with a single-elimination format starting in the quarterfinals and can be wagered on by fans on various Olympics betting sites.
A 'clean-up' operation in preparation for the Olympic Games included the removal of thousands of homeless people from Paris and its surrounding area. The collective study of the Le Revers de la Médaille claims that those who have been relocated include asylum seekers, families, and children who are already in fragile and poor conditions.
It also said that police were cracking down on drug users and people who worked in the sex industry. The study stated that since April 2023, there has been a stepped-up effort to force 12,545 people out of the city and dismantle tent camps in and surrounding it.
Médecins du Monde's health monitoring coordinator, Paul Alauzy, claimed that the city's poorest residents were 'socially cleansed'. This is for Paris to appear in the most flattering light possible during the Olympics.
As a band-aid solution, people were being driven to makeshift regional centres built in 2023. ‘They are hiding the misery under the rug. If this was a dignified solution to the problem, people would be fighting to get on the buses. They’re not. We are in the process of making life impossible for these people and those who support them’, Paul said.
Although the Paris Olympics is surrounded by certain issues, the hype for the big event is not dying down. Many still want to watch the games and bet on the Paris Olympics to support their favourite teams and players.
