Five Atlantic City teens were arrested in a knifepoint robbery Friday.
Police were called to the Tropicana just after 8 p.m. in reference to a robbery, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
A large knife was held to the victim's back by one of the teens as the group demanded his belongings, according to the report.
The victim was assaulted and his property stolen, Fair said. There were no details about what was taken.
The suspects then fled the building.
Tropicana security officers were able to obtain surveillance video of the suspects, Fair said.
Members of the Police department’s Surveillance Center were then able to locate surveillance coverage of the suspects fleeing.
Photographs of the suspects were given to officers.
Officers William Harned and Julian Monsalve saw three boys on the first block of South Texas Avenue. All three ran from the officers, but were ultimately apprehended.
Harned and Monsalve along with Officer Adrianna Petinga arrested a fourth suspect in the 2600 block of Atlantic Avenue.
Officers Christopher Campbell and Juan Perez-Delacruz located the fifth suspect in the 2600 block of Arctic Avenue.
The suspect fled before being taken into custody, but was arrested after a short foot pursuit. The teen dropped a bag containing a large knife like the one used in the robbery when he fled, Fair said.
Items belonging to the victim were also recovered.
A 15-year-old and four 14-year-olds were arrested.
All were charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, simple assault, terroristic threats, theft, obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
They were all sent to juvenile detention centers.
Their names were not released due to their ages.
