A concerned citizen's photograph helped track down a stabbing suspect earlier this month.

Luis Martinez-Colon, 30, of Atlantic City, is accused of stabbing a 45-year-old city man at about 8:35 a.m. Dec. 2, in the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Martinez-Colon fled the scene in a gray vehicle, but a witness was able to capture his photo, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

The Atlantic City Police Department investigated a stabbing leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Surveillance Unit personnel and detectives of the Criminal Investigations Section were able to locate video of the fleeing suspect vehicle, and the vehicle’s information was distributed to officers.

Officer Matthew Crosby then saw the vehicle at about 2:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue, according to the report.

Martinez-Colon was taken into custody as he left a nearby residence.

The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Martinez-Colon, remains jailed following a detention hearing on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
