A retired corrections officer accused of paying for sex with a trafficked minor is now a fugitive.
Kurt Young, 56, of South Dennis Township, was arrested Jan. 28, 2020, after a since-convicted human-trafficker from Egg Harbor Township identified his home as one where she delivered girls for sex.
“(Expletive)! I’m so f—–,” the affidavit of probable cause quotes Young as saying when investigators came with a search warrant.
Young was first held in the Cape May County jail, but was released following a detention hearing. BreakingAC did not have the details of that hearing.
He was set to go on trial in September, but never showed up, according the Attorney General's Office. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Now the office is looking for the public's help to track him down.
Investigators first had contacted with the 14-year-old victim Nov. 27, 2019, after Derrick Ross brought her to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
A man had responded to Ross' ad for an online escort. What Ross did not know as the customer was actually an undercover officer.
Ross' phone led to Tiffany Davis, who then told investigators about her alleged business with Young.
Ross and Davies were both held in jail, and have since pleaded guilty.
Ross, now 30, of Atlantic City, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison last Aug. 30, and ordered to pay a $15,000 fine. He is in East Jersey State Prison with a parole eligibility date of Nov. 29, 2026.
Davis, now 43, was sentenced to 15 years in the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility. She will be eligible for parole Oct. 9 of this year, according to state Department of Corrections records.
"The investigation and prosecution of human trafficking is a priority mission, as this crime leaves a devastating impact on its victims, which are often the most vulnerable members of our community,” Attorney General Matthew Platkin. “We urge people to call our confidential hotline 855-END-NJ-HT if they are being victimized, or see someone who they suspect is being exploited in this manner.”
“The Division of Criminal Justice has an unwavering commitment to the investigation of human trafficking,” Division of Criminal Justice Director J. Stephen Ferketic said. “We will relentlessly pursue those who commit these heinous crimes.”
Anyone with information on Young's location is asked to call 1-877-WANTED-2. The U.S. Marshals are offering a cash reward for any information leading directly to his arrest.
