A man who escaped to an Atlantic City casino hotel after a deadly mass shooting in Fairfield Township has been indicted for murder.
Arthur Armstead, 30, of the township's Elmer section, is accused of killing Kevin Elliott and Brailyn Holmes when gunfire broke out at a May 22, 2021 party on East Commerce Street.
Holmes’ brother, Zedekiah Holmes, was charged with murder in the deaths of Elliott, 30, and a third person, 25-year-old Asia Hester.
Eleven people were also wounded.
Armstead was arrested five days later, after he fled to a room at Harrah's Atlantic City, allegedly set up by his mother, Priscilla Armstead.
He was originally charged with obstruction and hindering apprehension. at about 11:45 p.m. May 22, 2021, after a shooting at the party attended by hundreds of people.
The continuing investigation led to information directly implicating Armstead in the shooting, resulting in murder charges that were filed this past October, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
A post-indictment arraignment is pending.
Armstead remains jailed.
