An Egg Harbor Township bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run Tuesday evening, police said.
Neil Burman, 68, was riding along Steelmanville Road at about 6:30 p.m., when he was struck by a Dodge Ram heading south near Beaver Drive, Capt. Cherie Burgan said.
Burman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver Shawn Duffy, 38, also of the township, did not stop, according to the report.
The vehicle was located hours later and Duffy interviewed, BreakingAC was told. He had a valid driver's license.
Neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to be involved, Burgan said. A blood test was not done.
Traffic was detoured for about 4½ hours while the scene was investigated.
Sgt. Ed Stearns, and Officers Tom Rizzotte and Nick Poletis are investigating, along with detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Unit.
Charges are pending.
