Absecon naked crime spree suspect arrested again

  • News

An Absecon man who was arrested in a 2022 naked crime spree is back in jail after allegedly attempting burglaries of a car and a residence.

Michael A. Davis was clothed this time, it seems, including wearing a ski mask, according to his latest charges.

Police were called to the Oyster Bay Condominium Complex just before 1 a.m. Thursday for a man in a ski mask trying to break into a vehicle, police said.

While officers were responding, there were additional reports of the same suspect trying to force his way into one of the complex's homes.

Officers located Davis, who tried to run, police said. He was taken into custody after a brief chase.

Davis, now 39, has multiple pending charges from a July 1, 2022, arrest in connection with several burglaries and alleged acts of criminal sexual contact and lewdness when he went on somewhat of a crime spree at the Clayton Mill Run Apartment Complex while naked.

Davis also faces a carjacking charge in that incident, after he allegedly approached a vehicle outside the Absecon Townhomes nude and got into the car that had a teenage boy behind the wheel.

Davis allegedly ordered the teen to drive to Clayton Mill Run, where he assaulted the juvenile and took his phone.

He also was accused of entering the residence of a woman and her two children, who were able to flee unharmed.

Davis allegedly entered another apartment after scaling a second story balcony, and tried to assault the woman who was inside with her infant child. The woman was able to fight him off.

He was arrested after police chased him.

Davis had been out of prison only about four months at that time, after serving a sentence for gun and drug convictions, BreakingAC previously reported.

It was not immediately clear when Davis was released from jail on those charges.

He is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on charges of criminal attempt burglary, obstruction and related drug offenses.
