  • News

A Ventnor driver was cited for careless driving after she allegedly crashed into a car stopped for an Egg Harbor Township school bus Tuesday morning.

The impact caused a chain reaction that resulted in the bus being rear-ended at about 8:45 a.m.

Yamilet Lora-Salazar, 26, was heading west on the Black Horse Pike near Bayport Drive, where three vehicles were stopped behind a Bluebird school bus with its red warning lights flashing and stop sign extended and students boarded, Lt. Brian Keane said.

Lora-Salazar's Honda CRV struck a Chevrolet Impala driven by Sharmaine Scott, 46, of Atlantic City.

The Impala then struck a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Christopher Collins, 33, of Somers Point. His vehicle then struck a Nissan Rogue driven by 24-year-old Timothy Tran, of Atlantic City.

Lora-Salazar then continued on and struck the school bus.

No children were injured.

Scott was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Traffic on the Black Horse Pike was detoured for about an hour and a half while the
scene was being investigated.

Lora-Salazar was cited for careless driving.
