An Atlantic City man was fatally shot Thursday night, BreakingAC has confirmed.
The shooting happened in the first block of South Florida Avenue just before 6 p.m., according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
The 37-year-old man has been identified only by his initials, H.C.
While BreakingAC has confirmed the name of the victim, it is not being reported due to safety concerns expressed by the family
The victim was the victim of at least one shooting previously, in March 2010.
He also had several pending cases, including a domestic violence allegations that had him jailed last month. He was was released following a detention hearing, despite the recommendation by the public safety assessment that he be held.
The father of six told the judge at that time that he was driving a taxi full time and working for a moving company part time. He also said he was the primary caregiver for two of his children, ages 9 and 14.
"People who suppose to love me really want me in jail or dead," he wrote in a Facebook post the night before he was killed. "That’s a different type of HATE..."
The shooting happened in the same area where another man was fatally shot in November.

The shooting also is the same area where an allegedly drug-trafficking ring was raided last year resulting in 16. arrests.
No further information has been released in the latest killing.
