Residents were safety evacuated after a vehicle crashed into an Egg Harbor Township home Monday afternoon.
The Bargaintown and Scullville fire companies were dispatched to the home at the corner of Ocean Heights Avenue and Steelmanville Raod at about 1:45 p.m., police said.
Vienna Vaccaro, 36, of the township, was headed south on Ocean Heights when her 2024 Mazda CX-5 left the roadway as she turned left onto Steelmanville Road.
Vaccaro struck the traffic signal, rendering it inoperable, Lt. Larry Graham said.
The vehicle continued, and crashed into the residence, causing structural damage.
No one was injured, but the residence were displaced due to utility damage, Graham said.
Investigation of the home determined the structure was unsound, and temporary shoring would be needed, according to a post by the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company.
Crews worked on the scene for about two hours before clearing it.
Vaccaro and her juvenile passenger were taken to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point for treatment of minor injuries.
The intersection was detoured for the investigation and until the Department of Transportation is able to repair the traffic signal.
The crash is being investigated by Officers Nick Poletis and Thomas Rizzotte Jr. of the
Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit. Charges are pending.
