Two Atlantic City men were arrested with handguns in separate cases Thursday.
Detective Eric Evans was alerted to a man with a handgun in a convenience store just after 11 a.m., Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Evans and other Special Investigations Section detectives found Khalil Bass in the store in the 600 block of New York Avenue, according to the report. He had a loaded handgun in his waistband.
Bass, 18, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
He has a pending case from last year for resisting and theft by joyriding, court records show.
Bass is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
Hours later, police were called to the 700 block of Drexel Avenue for a report of a man openly displaying a handgun, Fair said.
Police arrived around 5:20 p.m., and were given updated information on the suspect's location, according to the report.
Officer saw the suspect and a juvenile male walking in the area provided, and tried to speak with thenm Fair said.
Both fled.
The other male tripped and was detailed, but was found to be a juvenile. He was released to the custody of his mother.
Jaydin Taylor, 22, ran, according to the report.
Officers Edwin Maldonado and Syid Evans-White chased Taylor who was ultimately arrested. He broke free while being handcuffed, but police were able to apprehend him again, Fair said.
Taylor, who is from Chester, Pa., was found with a handgun reported stolen from Camden County. He also had several active warrants for his arrest, Fair said.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large-capacity magazine, obstruction of justice, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and escape.
Taylor is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
