Northfield woman with dementia still missing after a year

  • News

A Northfield's woman family still does not know what happened to her a year after she went missing.

Idalia Mendez, who would now be 73, has not been seen since July 5, 2023.

She is from New Brunswick but was living in Northfield and suffers from dementia.

Mendez was first reported as last seen at about 3:15 p.m. July 5, in the area of Maple and Spruce avenues.

But surveillance video from around Doughty and Delilah roads showed her walking in the area at about 6:20 p.m. July 5.

The location about three miles from where she was last seen in Northfield is the last sighting investigators have.

Northfield police were joined by multiple agencies in the search, including the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, the State Police Aviation Unit and Atlantic County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit.

A flyer shows photo from the video surveillance along with the shirt and jewelry she was wearing.

Anyone with information about her her location or what may have happened to her is asked to call Northfield police at 609-641-3122, or your local police department.
