Atlantic City musical offerings hit all the right notes

  • Entertainment

Summer is in full swing.

Aside from one big storm, the sunny beach days have been splendid. But you can’t be on the beach 24 hours a day. Seriously. You can’t. It’s illegal.

Plus, your dermatologist will yell at you whether you wear sunscreen or not.

But even though there are no epic beach concerts this summer, not to worry, there are plenty of things going on musically around here to entertain you and your loved ones inside.

If you are a Boomer or from Generation X and love music, there’s hardly a better place to live than Atlantic City. I’ve seen practically every one of my favorite bands that I haven’t seen in concert since high school.

If they are still alive, they come to A.C.

This weekend, yacht rocker Christopher Cross is coming to The Concert Venue at Harrah’s.

He’s the "Ride Like the Wind" guy if your birth year begins with a two.

He has enjoyed a prolific 40-plus career. And you can see him at an intimate venue for as low as $54!

So Sail on over to Harrah’s on Friday.

If rhythm and blues is more your jam, the one and only Brian McKnight is at Ovation Hall on Saturday.

He’s been in the music game all the way back to the original "Beverly Hills 90210," where his hit song "Love Is" hopped on the official soundtrack.

Make it a point to take your mate to some high quality baby making music this weekend. And just like last weekend, the cover charge will not break the bank.

Tickets start at $29. But act fast. They are going fast!

Speaking of the blues, Philadelphia local legend and expert axe shredder Greg Sover is taking of Anchor Rock Club on Friday.

According to Guitar World Magazine, "the Philadelphian guitarist and singer steps up to fill some of the biggest shoes in guitar history--with David Bowie's amp along for the ride." Now that sounds like a fun endorsement.

You can check out his website and find $13 tickets to the show.

For those who want to rock, Blue Öyster Cult is over on the marina side of town at the Golden Nugget Saturday.

They are originally from Long Island, but over the decades they have earned world-wide success to the tune of 25 million records!

You can see them this weekend for $59.

Free music on the Boardwalk

If the gaming tables are not treating you well this season, the first week of free concerts in Chelsea starts with DJ Butta, Nomad and B-Side respectively.

You can catch this series on Sunday through Tuesday all the way until the end of September at the Tropicana Pavilion right on the Boardwalk. Bring chairs!

DJ Butta is an Atlantic City resident with an eclectic style fusing hip-hop, soul, R&B, old school, rock, reggae, funk, soulful house, and classics.

Nomad is a Grammy-nominated DJ from Columbia. (Good luck in the Copa finals on Sunday.) He lives in Atlantic City, but he has traveled the world and brings back his global performing experience for you to see on boards in front of the ocean.

B-SIDE, a DJ and drummer duo will dazzle you with live drums amidst the diverse music spinning and promise a soundscape of listening enjoyment.

The Tropicana offers some take-out options across from the shows.

You can grab a slice, a burrito or a sandwich at reasonable prices.

And if you are a Caesars Entertainment player, note that comps are one-to-one resort wide!

With such diverse musical offerings and cheap ticket prices available this weekend, give your Spotify a rest and get down here!
