Atlantic City man sentenced to 18 years in prison in kidnapping and separate shooting

  • Crime-Courts

An Atlantic City man who was a fugitive in several 2022 crimes including kidnapping and gun possession was sentenced to 18 years in prison last week.

Glen Graves, 33, admitted in May that he took a resident from their home at gunpoint Dec. 27, 2022, and forced them to drive to a local bank and withdraw $600 from the drive-through ATM.

Graves fled after police were called, discarding a pair of latex gloves and a loaded handgun which had a defaced serial number.

DNA from the gloves along with surveillance video and witness statements led to Graves being charged. He was also tied to other crimes, police said after his arrest by Galloway Township officers last April.

That included an Aug. 5, 2022, shooting that wounded two people in Atlantic City.

Police were called to Brigantine Homes at 11:24 p.m. that night, after a ShotSpotter alert, BreakingAC previously reported.

Two victims later arrived at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.

An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led to charges including two counts of aggravated assault, along with weapons offenses.

Graves admitted to firing a handgun at an occupied vehicle in that case. The second-degree charges of aggravated assault, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and eluding police in that case are expected to result in a sentence concurrent to the kidnapping case.

Graves also admitted to eluding Egg Harbor City police Dec. 4, 2022, when he fled a motor vehicle stop in a stolen vehicle.
