Atlantic City weekend brings laughs, lights and little fighters

  • Things To Do

Lots of beloved entertainers are playing Atlantic City this weekend. If you haven’t gotten tickets to anything yet, there are still plenty of choices.

If money is no object, you can sit so close enough that you can see them sweat. If money is an object, you can go to a show for as low as $8.88. Or, simply look up to the night sky at the right location in town to see a spectacle for free.

A lot to laugh about

Comedy is king this weekend as big names take the stage at several casinos.

The very funny Kathleen Madigan is bringing The Potluck Party Tour to the Borgata on Friday.

Madigan has been playing Atlantic City since the Hard Rock was still the Taj Mahal. She's been on all the late-night shows as well as specials on the big platforms. She even was one of the "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" with Jerry Seinfeld. Madigan’s Pubcast is her new project.

If you want to see a brash Irish woman heavily influenced by Ron White, Richard Jeni and Lewis Black, she’s your girl. But she is close to selling out.

So click soon.

SNL funny man Pete Davidson is at Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort on Friday and Saturday.

You may have seen Pete in the "The King of Staten Island" or "Bupkis."

Or you might know him from swinging up in the romance department in all the magazines dating stars like Kate Beckinsale and Ariana Grande among many, many others.

Plus how many people can say that Ye has a nickname for them? (Translation for those not keeping up with the Kardashians: Davidson dated Kanye West's ex Kim, and the self-proclaimed genius was not happy about it.)

If you want to go see “Skete,” click for tickets.

Kevin Hart’s Acting My Age Tour is at Hard Rock on Sunday.

The Philly native needs no introduction. He’s in movies, successfully tours live and is even a guest apex predator on Shark Tank.

This guy does it all.

Look to the stars

The extremely creative folks at the Noetrope production company are at it again with another Anchor Rock Club take over.

Space Rodeo: Alien Hoedown promises to be “a spectacle of the galaxy's most wanted.”

Listen to EDM sets and check out visual art from local cosmonauts.

Tickets are only $8.88. But costumes, or at least a foil hat, are expected from all party goers.

In addition to the well-known weekly fireworks on Saturday courtesy of the Tropicana, Ocean is adding a Friday night drone show debuting this Friday.

The drone show is visible at the The Park.

What is The Park you ask?

It’s the outdoor space on the lobby level of Ocean on the eleventh floor.

No tickets are needed. But there are bars on that level, so you may be enticed to buy drinks and as always, encouraged to play at the casino coming and going from the event.

A bushel and several pecs

Most locals have gotten a text along the lines of, “We are coming to town for a bachelorette party, is anything going on?"

Yes. The answer is yes.

The Chippendales, featuring "Dancing with the Stars" expert Gleb Savchenko, are at Hard Rock all weekend for a total of six muscle-filled shows.

(Read about their Boardwalk arrival — with video — here.)

Savchenko will host a diverse showcase filled with music, dance and acrobatics from scantily clad men who clearly have not let their gym membership lapse in recent history.

Go Lucy, it’s your birthday!

Everybody’s favorite local pachyderm turns 143 this weekend.

She looks good for her age, no?

Lucy is celebrating with a family-friendly soiree that will include skee-ball, mini golf, a money machine, waterslides, snow cones, and of course, cake!

She's also announcing her run for president.

Good things come in small fighters

Finally, if the thought of the Chippendales is far too intimidating, start small and work your way up.

The Knee-High Knuckle Busters are throwing down at the Ducktown Tavern Saturday.

“The biggest little event in Atlantic City” is not going to come up short when it comes to entertainment and just plain fun. Watch these two-foot toughies grapple under an AC sky, tap out with some ale and grab a plate of wings at this iconic tavern.

Everything everywhere all at once

Can’t decide on one form of entertainment to enjoy?

Then why not attend the Stories of Atlantic City’s Celebration of Expression where local artists of all mediums come together for an immersive evening of free entertainment, mocktails and snacks on Thursday?

This list is eclectic, although not exhaustive. There’s always something going on in America’s Playground.
