  • News

An Egg Harbor Township woman was killed in a crash Thursday night.

Elizabeth Walton, 41, was heading west on the Black Horse Pike just before 8 p.m., when she failed to stop at the Hamilton Commons Drive traffic light, and stuck a 2014 Kia Soul, police said.

The Kia was driven by 18-year-old Yesenia Ruiz, of Mays Landing, police said.

Walton's 2006 Nissan Altima then struck a large traffic light standard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruiz was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for her injuries.

The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Township of Hamilton Rescue, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Mays Landing Fire Department, Cologne Fire Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Hamilton Township police at 609-625-2700, ext. 1.
