A Millville man convicted of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Marvin Stidham, 64, was cleared of first-degree aggravated sexual assault during his trial in January.
Stidham had sexual contact with the child in Commercial Township from June 1 to Nov. 11, 2021.
N.J. State Police Detective Christian Guadalupe led the investigation with assistance from the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
Stidham was sentenced Friday to an extended term, successfully argued by the state.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the sexual assault and five years for endangering the welfare of a child. The sentences will run concurrent.
He must serve at least 85 percent, or just more than 10 years and two months, under the No Early Release Act.
Stidham will have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law with lifetime supervision upon his release.
He was in South Woods State Prison at the time of his trial, serving a sentence in a decade-old forgery case, BreakingAC previously reported.
Stidham was released from South Woods on May 18, and is now in the Cumberland County jail awaiting return to prison.
