A Philadelphia teen was arrested this weekend after allegedly shooting himself in a bathroom stall on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Police were called to the Boardwalk at Chelsea Avenue just after 7 p.m. Sunday for the report of a 16-year-old shot, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
The teen was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with an injury not considered life-threatening, according to the report.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit talked to witnesses and looked at video from several surveillance cameras.
They also spoke with the teen and his mother a second time and found that the first interview was "completely false," Fair said.
The juvenile illegally brought a firearm on a trip to Atlantic City from Philadelphia, according to the report.
The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by someone younger than 18, possession of hollow-point ammunition and provide false information to law enforcement.
He was remanded to the Harborfields Detention Facility.
