A Pleasantville man died after he was struck by a vehicle just after midnight Wednesday near the Walmart in Egg Harbor Township.
Nathaniel Lolley, 76, of Wilmington, Dela., was driving his 2015 Honda CRV east on the Black Horse Pike near Oak Tree Drive when he struck a man who was walking in the road, Capt. Cherie Burgan said.
Leon Barrett, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lolley and his passenger were taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Egg Harbor Township EMS, AtlantiCare Paramedics, the Farmington and Cardiff Fire companies and N.J. State Police TIMS Unit responded to the scene to assist.
The investigation was assisted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Black Horse Pike eastbound between Fire Road and Oak Tree Drive was closed for about three hours while the crash scene was investigated and cleared.
The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Ed Stearns, and Officers Nathan Lahr and Nick Poletis.
