Former Galloway woman convicted of five animal-cruelty counts

  • Crime-Courts

A woman who had animals  "deplorable" conditions inside her Galloway Township home in 2022 was convicted this week.

Lisa Monzo, 59, had a dog, two cats two birds inside her former home, according the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

She was convicted of five counts of animal cruelty. They all are fourth-degree, meaning it's unlikely she would get prison time.

The animals had no fresh water, edible food, or clean and habitable living conditions.

All of the animals were moved, medically assess, and then placed in rehabilitation and foster care.

Monzo is scheduled for sentencing in September.

The Prosecutor's Office reminds people that neglect is a form of animal cruelty and asks the public to report any incidents of animal cruelty to their local police departments.
