  • News

A 72-year-old man was fatally struck while walking across Route 52 in Somers Point on Saturday.

The man and his wife, whose names were not released, were not in the crosswalk when the man was struck at about 6:50 p.m. in front of the Econo Lodge, Chief Robert Somers told BreakingAC.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was not injured.

The driver, a 75-year-old Somers Point man, stayed at the scene.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, Somers said.

The investigation is ongoing.
