Three Atlantic City officers and their four-legged partners graduated from the John "Sonny" Burke Police K-9 Academy on Friday.
K-9 Officer Robert Reynolds and his partner, Carlo, successfully completed the Patrol Operations and Narcotic Detection Dog Handler Course, Lt. Kevin Fair said. The team is assigned to the Operations Division.
They also received the John “Sonny” Burke Award, voted on by the members of the class.
K-9 Officer Brandon Bower and partner, Zeus, along with K-9 Detective Alberto Valles and partner, Raider, completed the Explosive Detection Dog Handler Course.
Bower and Zeus are assigned to the Operations Division. Valles and Raider are assigned to the Investigations Division. Valles also is a member of the department’s Bomb Squad.
K-9 Officer Amir Hughes who received his Scent Supervisory Trainers Certification. Hughes is assigned to the K-9 academy to assist in training all of the county’s K-9 teams, under Director Joe Nicholas.
"Congratulations to all of those that successfully completed their training," the department said in its announcement. "We wish all of our K-9 teams success and health."
