Northfield resident missing after vehicle found

Police are asking for help finding a Northfield resident whose vehicle was found in Batso.

Elliot Ganiel, 32, was reported missing Saturday night from the 400 block of Davis Avenue, Capt. Stephen Steinecke said.

Ganiel was discovered missing after a family member got a call from the N.J. State Police that his vehicle was found at the Mullica River Canoe Landing in Batso. The vehicle had personal items that were left behind, according to the report.

Police had not recent photo of Ganiel, so released those taken from surveillance video at his job.

They released more a more recent photo Wednesday.

The family had not seen Ganiel for three days at that time, Steinecke said.

The area was searched by multiple agencies, including police from Northfield, Hamilton and Egg Harbor townships and Beach Haven, along with State Police, State Park Police, the state Office of Emergency Management, Atlantic County OEM, the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Company, and numerous dive teams, K-9s, drone units and FLIR systems.

Anyone with information about Ganiel's whereabouts is asked to call Northfield police at 609-641-3122. Detective Matthew Locotos is the lead case agent.
