  • News

An Egg Harbor Township man was allegedly "highly intoxicated" when he was pulled over Saturday night.

Luis Chevere, 27, was driving erratically on Fire Road in the area of Lidl's, Lt. Larry Graham said.

Chevere failed to stop for police, and continued about 2½ miles down the road, stopping in the parking of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, according to the report.

Officers made contact with Chevere, who appeared to disoriented, Graham said.

He was evaluated by Emergency Medical Services, who determined he was highly intoxicated, Graham said. Chevere then was taken to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point for treatment.

Specimens were collected at the hospital, and he was charged with driving while intoxicated. He also was charged with obstruction and resisting arrest/eluding, court records show.

Chevere was released on a summons.
