An Egg Harbor Township teen has a long road to recovery after being struck by a tow truck, according to a GoFundMe.
Emily Davis, 15, remains in critical condition in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Cooper Health Systems, where she has undergone multiple blood transfusions and surgeries to stabilize her condition, according to the GoFundMe.
Davis was riding her bike home from her mother's salon with her brother and a friend, when she was hit, writes organizer Sarah Harrison.
The teen fell before she was hit, and then was run over by the truck's rear wheels, police have said.
The response was quick, according to one witness, who arrived "milliseconds" after the accident.
"The police that arrived on the scene were absolutely fantastic," Carrie Hayes Jorgenson wrote on Facebook. "They came swiftly, they asked all the questions and moved quickly to make the entire areas safe as we were truly partially into the street.
The EMTs came and they also were outstanding," she added. 'I just want to say how proud I am to be part of a community that works together this way. Because of that, she received her care quickly, which is of the essence in times such as this."
Her injuries include broken legs, fractured pelvis and collapsed lungs, Harrison wrote on the GoFundMe.
"The blessing is testing has shown Emily’s brain function remains intact," she added.
Her next surgery will address the repair of her pelvis with the aid of plates and screws.
