Atlantic City police arrested a Mays Landing man on weapons and drug offenses after being caught speeding, police said in a news release.
At 6:28 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, Officers Moustafa Maarouf and Ivaylo Penchev pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Route 30.
Immediately after the vehicle pulled over, the officers could see the driver, Naji Hart, switch seats with the passenger, according to the release.
Hart, 24, told the officers that he didn’t have a valid license to operate the vehicle. He had a suspended New Jersey driver’s license and several active warrants.
K-9 Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan and his K-9 partner, Gee, who is trained in narcotics detection, arrived to back up the officers. Gee alerted the officers that there were drugs in the car, the release stated.
Hart was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hart was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
