Camden man sentenced to 10 years for gun found in Atlantic City hotel room

  • Crime-Courts

A Camden man convicted of weapons offenses after leaving a loaded gun in an Atlantic City hotel room was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday.

Quadir Webb, 31, was convicted by a jury last August on second-degree charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and certain persons not to possess a handgun, along with fourth-degree charges of possession of hollow point bullets and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine

The conviction stems from Webb's March 6, 2022 stay at the Claridge Hotel/

After he and his girlfriend, Mariah Taylor, checked out around noon, a housekeeper found a loaded Glock 17 handgun in a nightstand drawer.

Hours later, a man called asking to go back to Room 1219. Webb then arrived at the front desk asking the same thing.

Webb did not have a permit and had a previous conviction that makes it illegal for him to possess a firearm.

When Atlantic City police arrived at the Claridge and met with Webb, he started to run.

The jury acquitted Taylor.

Webb must serve at least five years before he is eligible for parole. He already has served about two years and two months in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he remains pending transfer to state prison.
