Two men who assaulted corrections officers while housed in juvenile detention were sentenced to state prison terms this week.
Bilal Rex, 20, of Atlantic City, and Samir Abdullah, 21, of Galloway Township, each pleaded guilty to third-degree charges of aggravated assault on a corrections employee.
The incident happened Dec. 12, 2022, when the two were in the Atlantic County Juvenile Detention Center.
Both Rex and Bilal are already serving terms of incarceration due to previous guilty pleas, which were apparently in juvenile court. The details of those convictions were not available.
They each face three years in prison when they are sentenced July 11. The sentences would be consecutive, since they are in state prison.
