The top eighth-graders in Atlantic City's eight schools

Atlantic City has eight schools with eighth-grade students getting ready to move on to High School.

Here are the tops at each school:


Chelsea Heights

   Ryhanna Tran 

Ryhanna does visual performing arts, is a National Junior Honor Society candidate and plays basketball and soccer.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "My best memory is the Christmas play. I played Mrs. Claus. Acting is fun. I will miss my friends and the teachers."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Yanni Camacho-Angel, Anthony Carrillo-Serrano, Alexander Hernandez Buendia, Gabriel Lee Tripp, Sherlyn Anadalay Guzman-Mateos, Farhad Ul Haq, Udity Biswas, Peter Andres Charalidis and Brianna Hao Tran.


Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Complex

    Aniyah Isabella Wilkins  

Aniyah is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "My best memory is when I first came here. The teachers were really sweet. I told my mom, 'This is the school I want to stay in until eighth grade. I think I’ll miss everything."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Jayana Adams, Aaliyah Yon, Jamir Harris, John Figueroa, Eden Hilton, Ha’Leeya Ceaser, Selvin Villatoro-Suazo, Zoey Carreon and Martinez Cruz.

New York Avenue

    Fatima Akram 

Fatima is a National Junior Honor Society member, along with being part of the gifted and talented program, visual performing arts, student voices and running track and field.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "I enjoyed events like the carnival and field trips. My favorite field trip was when we went to Washington D.C ."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Sabanoor Khan, Sonny Rutherford-Hibbert, Alasia Cropper, Makariy Lomykin, Elisa Zelaya-Suazo, Mujahid Thomas, Davionna Crenshaw, Vianca Mojica- Rivera and Amir Aikens.


Pennsylvania Avenue

    Marty Small Jr.

Marty Jr. is a member of the gifted and talented program, and plays basketball.

Best Memory and what I will miss: ""My best memory is basketball. We made it to the championship. I hit five 3-pointers in the championship game. I’ll miss the school and the teachers ."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Olivia Chapman, Ziaire Snowden, Naima Robertson, Terionna Hampton, Julius Beverly, Qadirah Zahir, Zahir Rodriquez-Calderon, Amor Rodriquez and Zaiden Rush.


Richmond Avenue

   Umaiza Amirah  

Umaiza is a member of the National Honor Society and ReadAC - Battle of the Books.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "I will miss the teachers. I will miss my friends. I’m looking forward to meeting new people."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Asher Keim, Nafisha Ahad, Syeda B


Sovereign Avenue

 Celine Pham  

Celine is a member of the National Honor Society, the Asian Club and the News Team.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "My best memory in general is being in the classroom and having conversations with teachers. I definitely will miss the school community because I’ve basically grown up here. I’ve been here since kindergarten."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Lisa Farha, Annesha Das, Ariba Shahid, Ava Thai, Khairun Fatema, Ashley Martinez, Quetzali Robledo Cruz, Pierson Nguyen and Dulce Santiago.


Texas Avenue

 Fatima Morshed  

Fatima is a member of the National Honor Society, Empowering Young Females Club, Texas Avenue School Ambassadors, yearbook and ReadAC:- Battle of the Books.

Best Memory and what I will miss: "My best memory is having fun in the EYF meetings. Those meetings were fun because I got to be with girls like me who are ambitious. I think I’m going to miss the staff and students because at high school it won’t be the same."

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Iris Laredo Martinez, Anisa Kabir, Fairooz Subat, Ryan Dolores, Luz Bracamontes Clavel, Zoey Carrasco, Alexis Palaceos Bentancourt, Dylee Villa Sarmiento and Kaureen Afsheen.


Uptown Complex

   Sebastian Rivera

Sebastian is a member of the National Honor Society, the gifted and talented program and AAA Safety Patrol.

Best Memory and what I will miss: ""I liked the chilled environment and recess. We would go in the gym and play basketball, football, or soccer."

Rounding out the Top 10 are:Jay Beltran, Joel Rosado, Fathima Khan, Frederick Escalante-Murillo, Heaven Minor, Sayvier Oyola, Ivey Speller, Alex Caseres-Arellanes and Alexis Caseres-Arellanes
