Harborfields worker charged with official misconduct

  • Crime-Courts

A worker at a juvenile detention center is charged with official misconduct for allegedly letting detained juveniles use his personal cell phone.

Tyrell Jones, 33, of Atlantic City, was charged on a summons May 16, records show.

The investigation was sparked when the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office was given information by the Juvenile Justice Commission last year that Jones was supplying contraband to detained residents and Harborfields, according to a release from the Prosecutor's Office.

It was found that Jones was giving those residents access to his personal cell phone, which is considered a contraband device.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards and Accountability Unit.
