Jerry Jones Had a Meltdown When Asked About the Sun

The Eagles throttled the Dallas Cowboys 34-7 Sunday. After the game, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was despondent.

Jones seemed specifically irritated by the Cowboys' inability to adjust to the sunlight at AT&T Stadium, which makes for some incredible pictures — like the one at the top of the article — but probably isn't very fun to play through.

Well, Jerry doesn't want to hear it, as noted by The Athletic's Jon Machota:

There's more to the tweet, but for some reason X hasn't figured out how to make the part after "show more" appear when embedded.

Anyway, the rest of the exchange got even better, because Jones was asked about why the Cowboys don't just use some sort of curtain to cover up the windows when they are playing games at the same time that the sun is setting. His response seems like something from The Onion, but is real.

“Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me?

“Everybody has got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues.

“I’m saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”

Whatever you think about Jones as a person, it's hard to deny his entertainment value.

This, as Jones pointed out, is hardly the first time that the sun has affected games at AT&T Stadium. But it was particularly noticeable since CeeDee Lamb straight up missed what probably should have been a touchdown catch in the first half because he couldn't see:

As you can imagine, the internet was on fire:

If Dak Prescott does ultimately need season-ending surgery on his right hamstring, the Cowboys will probably be picking in the top five in next year's NFL Draft. This was a bad team with Prescott. Without him, they're in big trouble, especially if Big Curtain can't get through to Jerry.
