An Atlantic City man admitted to being armed during a domestic dispute that led to his juvenile son pinning him down until police came.
Dennis Bell, 39, was arrested Feb. 12, after Egg Harbor township police were called to a home on Leap Street for a domestic dispute.
They arrived to find Bell in the bedroom being held down by his juvenile son.
Bell claimed he was there to return his former girlfriend's handgun to her.
The woman said she noticed her gun missing from her safe, and that Bell was the only other person who knew the combination.
She called Bell, who denied he had the gun, she told police. But then he showed up at the home, brandishing the weapon and yelling at her.
She called for the couple's son to come into the bedroom, and he pinned down his father until police arrived.
The handgun was found and rendered safe. It was a Taurus G3C 9x19 loaded with 10 hollow-point bullets and one in the chamber.
Bell was sentenced to five years in prison with one year of parole ineligibility. He already has served about nine months in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he remains pending transfer to state prison.
