A Pleasantville man was fatally struck after exiting his disabled vehicle following a minor crash on the Atlantic City Expressway early Monday morning.
Rich Harris, 29, struck a guardrail on the eastbound side of the expressway near the Frank S. Farley Service Plaza in Hamilton Township just before 1:25 a.m., State Police said.
He got out of his vehicle and was struck by an SUV, according to the report.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver remained on scene and spoke with police.
Harris was remembered fondly by those who knew him.
Rowan University's men's cross country/track and field paid tribute to their former teammate on Facebook.
"We know everyone will remember him more for his great smile and always being there for people when they needed him," the post reads. "We are going to miss you and hope you have had a great reunion with your mom and pop."
