Atlantic County's prosecutor was honored as the Community Advocate of the Year during the 10th annual Crisis Intervention Team New Jersey Conference and Awards Dinner held at Caesars Atlantic City.
William Reynolds was honored for several initiatives that have transformed the office, including the mental health diversion program, a veterans response team, outreach and initiatives for the homeless and specialized training for law enforcement officers working with special needs individuals.
CIT-NJ Chairman Ed Dobleman presented Reynolds with the honor, recognizing the prosecutor's "exceptional commitment to advancing mental health and crisis intervention initiatives across the state."
The programs implemented or expanded under Reynolds represent his office's dedication to pioneering compassionate, innovative solutions in partnership with the community, according to the group.
“This award is a testament to the exceptional individuals within our office who go above and beyond," Reynolds said. "They choose to run toward danger every day. Their dedication makes it possible for me to attend and offer words of encouragement at every Crisis Intervention Team and Veterans Response Team training in Atlantic County to inspire change and create better outcomes for our people.”
