The Phillies Are No Longer Freddie Freeman's Biggest Victims

For years, Freddie Freeman was as big of a Phillies killer as their was. In 194 games against the Phillies during his 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Freeman hit .298 with 30 home runs, 42 doubles and 120 runs driven in.

The Phillies, though, will now take a permanent backseat to the New York Yankees in terms of fanbases who have anything but fond memories of Freeman.

In his third season with the Dodgers, Freeman won World Series MVP as he was at the forefront of Los Angeles discarding the Yankees in five games to win the eighth title in franchise history.

Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam for the Dodgers to win Game 1, then proceeded to homer in each of the next three games as well. He didn't homer in Game 5, but he delivered a crucial two-run single and later scored a run in a top of the fifth inning that saw the Dodgers score five unearned runs on Gerrit Cole to erase a 5-0 deficit:

In total, Freeman hit .300 with four home runs and 12 RBIs, staggering production for a series that only went five games. It's one of the greatest individual World Series performances ever:

It's the second career title for Freeman, who previously won the 2021 World Series as a member of the Braves. As crazy as it is to think about, it's possible with how successful Freeman has been over the first three seasons of his six-year deal with the Dodgers that he'll go into the Hall of Fame with a blank cap on his plaque.

And now, the clock starts for the Phillies as they try to prevent Freeman from winning his third World Series title in 2025.
