Most of Stockton University's approximately 1,500 first-year students moved into their residence halls Friday as the fall semester was set to begin this week.
They are part of nearly 3,000 students who will live in university housing in Galloway Township and Stockton’s two residence halls in Atlantic City this year.
About 3,000 students will live on campus.
Some other facts about 2024's first-years:
- Nearly 85 percent of full-time first-year students received institutional grants and/or scholarships totaling $17.3 million.
- The students come from 16 different states as far north as Maine and Michigan, as far west as California and Washington state and as far south as Florida and Texas.
- The first-year class also includes students from nine different countries.
- Ninety-seven of the students are recruited athletes, including a soccer player from Canada and a field hockey player from Colorado.
- The top three majors are Health Science with 276 students, Business Administration with 266 and Psychology with 204.
- About 700 transfer students also enrolled at Stockton this semester.
