A North Carolina couple was arrested after they allegedly left a baby alone in a hotel room, leading officers to a handgun.
A housekeeper at Bally's Atlantic City had gone to a room to leave requested items after 9 p.m. Friday, but found the occupants had left, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
When she went to leave the items, she saw an infant asleep in a crib and notified security, according to the report.
Officers Adrianna Petinga, Isabella Rando, Gissell Garcia and Franco Sydnor responded.
The room's occupants, Jaquan Campbell and Teeah McCall Campbell, were located and taken into custody.
Campbell, 33, was found in possession of a handgun, according to the charges.
The state Department of Child Protection and Permanency was notified, and both were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
McCall Campbell was released on a summons.
Campbell was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point ammunition. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
