Road and water restrictions announced for Atlantic City weekend triathlons

The 2024 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic Distance National Championships will impact traffic in Atlantic City this weekend.

Both races will start at 6:30 a.m. at Bader Field on Albany Avenue and finish on the Boardwalk in front of Kennedy Plaza. About 2,500 athletes are expected to participate in the races each day.

The Olympic Distance National Championship is expected to run until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and includes a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10- kilometer run.

On Saturday, the Sprint Distance National Championship will include a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run. It is expected to conclude by 12:30 p.m.

There also will be water restrictions in place on Friday before the race from 1:30 to 6 p.m.

Saturday road restrictions and delays:

  • Atlantic City Expressway exits 2, 4 and 5 will be closed from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Delays on US 40/US 322/Albany Avenue both east and west from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Motorists should use the Atlantic City Expressway or Route 30 to enter/exit Atlantic City

The same areas will be affected Sunday with the following times:

  • Major delays and detours at Atlantic City Expressway exits 2, 4 and 5, which will be closed from 4:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Delays on US 40/US 322/Albany Avenue both east and west between from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Motorists should use the Atlantic City Expressway or Route 30 to enter/exit Atlantic City
