An Egg Harbor Township woman was supposed to be substitute teaching at a middle school Monday.
But instead, Katherine MacPherson showed up with a fake card identifying her as a school employee, according to police.
MacPherson, 34, was arrested after police were called to the township's Alder Avenue Middle School.
Security Director Bryan Paige called police.
Detective Sgts. Brett Fair and Richard Vogt responded along with Officers Nathan Lahr and Juwan Parker, according to the report.
An investigation confirmed the identification was fraudulent, Capt. Cherie Burgan said. But MacPherson would not say why she had it or who created it.
She was charged with a fourth-degree crime of falsifying a writing or record with purpose to deceive, and released on a summons.
The school district contracts out for substitute teachers, but has additional safety measures to be sure that everyone coming in and out of the schools are accounted for, Burgan said.
"We are thankful for the relationship we have with the district and that they go above and beyond to ensure the safety of staff and students," she said.
It does not appear that MacPherson has a criminal record.
