9-year-old, corrections officer killed in Vineland crash

  • Vineland

A beloved pee wee football player and youth football coach were killed in a crash outside a Vineland sports complex Thursday evening.

Addiel Ortiz, 31, of Millville, was riding a motorcycle east on Maple Avenue when it struck a westbound SUV driven by Lauren Beisler just before 6 p.m.

Beisler, 42, of Ocean View, was making a left into the Joseph E. Romano Sports Complex when the crash occurred.

Her backseat passenger, 9-year-old E.B., died at the scene along with Ortiz, police said.

Beisler did not sustain any reported injuries at the time of the crash.

While the Prosecutor's Office did not release the child's name, he was identified as Easton Beisler in a GoFundMe set up for the family.

The Upper Township Indians remembered the boy as "a bright and talented pee wee player who touched the hearts of everyone around him."

Ortiz was a father of four who worked as a corrections officer for 10 years at Southern State Correctional Facility and Bayside State Prison, according to a GoFundMe set up for the family.

He also donated his time as a youth football coach with the Vineland Blitz organization for four years.
