Three Buena Borough residents are jailed for allegedly growing millions in marijuana out of their homes.
Investigators seized more than 4,000 marijuana plants out of the three residences that had been transformed into sophisticated marijuana-growing sites, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Hanzi Chen, 47; Suxia Li, 41, and and Deng Huan Hong, 50, were arrested last week after a three-month investigation by the State Police Marijuana Eradication Team South, along with Franklinville and Elk Township police.
The properties were equipped with lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, growth nutrients, water supply and grow space to tend to the plants, according to the report.
None of the properties are licensed medical or recreation cannabis businesses.
Chen appeared in court via video last week but there were issues with the interpreter who spoke Mandarin Chinese while the three apparently speak Cantonese.
Detention hearings for all three are scheduled for Wednesday.
