Man charged with defacing Atlantic City laundry sign

  • Crime-Courts

A man is charged with third-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly caused $4,500 in damage to an Atlantic City laundry's sign.

Miguel Rios, 30, is accused of spray-painting "Dyablo" on the Iowa Laundry at Iowa and Arctic avenues Sept. 9.

He was arrested Sunday, court records show.

Rios was ordered released from the Atlantic County Justice Facility on Monday, after the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office declined to file a motion to detain him.

Miguel Rios appears in court via video.

He appeared for a central judicial processing hearing Monday afternoon, where Judge Thomas Keywood asked if he understood the charge against him.

"I understand them, but I wasn’t even..." Rios started to reply before public defender Samantha Geisinger stopped him, warning him not to discuss the case.

He was released with monthly reporting. But he was still listed in the jail after midnight Tuesday.
