No confirmation yet as Atlantic City police investigate 'suspicious vehicle'

  • Public Safety

Atlantic City police are investigating after a resident claimed to have seen a man try to lure a juvenile into his vehicle.

But no alleged victim nor parent has come forward at this time, Capt, Kevin Fair said.

Many people have shared a post on social media claiming a man attempted to abduct a child. Some have also included a photo of a white Jeep with the license plate visible, alleging it was the suspect vehicle.

Police have made contact with the owner, who contacted detectives after learning about the posts, and agreed to be interviewed. No criminal charges are warranted at this time, police said.

The posts led to several reports of possible interactions with the driver, but all were found to be false, according to the report.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 609-347-5766. Information also may be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
