A Camden County man released from prison in October is back in jail after an license plate reader led to a loaded handgun.
David Ringgold, 37, of Pennsauken, set off an alert when he entered the city at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 19, letting police know he had outstanding warrants, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers Shalonn Black and Jovahn Perez stopped Ringgold around Vermont and Atlantic avenues, where he tried to give police false information, according to the charges.
He was arrested.
A search of the vehicle led to a loaded handgun, Fair said.
It was also determined that his passenger gave police false information. Amanda Hoss, 37, of Camden, is now wanted.
Both are charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large-capacity magazine, certain person not to possess a weapon, and hindering apprehension.
Ringgold was transferred from the Atlantic County Justice Facility to Burlington County, according to jail records.
The license plate readers also notified police that a stolen vehicle entered the city Wednesday morning, police said.
The vehicle was reported stolen from Union earlier that day.
Officers Janicquea Harold, La’Quay Green and Bria Hill stopped the vehicle at the base of the Atlantic City Expressway, Fair said.
Tyrell Ellis, 27, of Mays Landing, was charged with receiving stolen property and released on a summons.
