Approximately 1,500 runners from around the country will take the scenic route in the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series AmeriHealth April Fools Half Marathon that begins Sunday at Resorts Casino Hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
More than 300 volunteers will assist with the race, which draws thousands of spectators.
Race day will feature live music along the route to keep participants and spectators energized.
After the runners cross the finish line, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill will host the official afterparty and awards ceremony, where top male and female finishers will receive monetary prizes.
Additional age group awards will be presented to race competitors.
Costumes are highly encouraged, with a special contest recognizing the most creative and outrageous outfits. Race sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka will donate $1 to charity for every Jalapeño Business — the specialty drink — purchased at the after-party.
Bicycles are prohibited on the Boardwalk during the event, and parking restrictions will be in effect in the Downbeach towns of Ventnor, Margate and Longport.
Motorists are advised to be cautious driving during the event.
