Holocaust survivor Michael Bar-Zohar will be the keynote speaker at a free program remembering the 6 million victims.
The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University is presenting the program commemorating Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day next Thursday, April 24.
Bar-Zohar, a renowned scholar, author and historian, highlights the program set for 6 p.m. at Ventnor's Shirat Hayam at 700 N. Swarthmore Ave.
The free, community-wide commemoration will highlight Holocaust survivors in southern New Jersey and will include a memorial service.
Bar-Zohar has published several nonfiction books based on his own intensive research. He is the official biographer of David Ben-Gurion, the founder of the state of Israel, and also wrote the biographies of Israeli President Shimon Peres and the founder of the Israeli secret services, Isser Harel.
He has served two terms in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, as a member of Israel’s Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee and as chair of the Education and Culture Committee.
Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Funding for this program was provided by the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, the Yom HaShoah Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation and the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University.
