The Atlantic City Police Department arrested a juvenile male with a handgun following an alert for gunfire.
It was at 9:53 p.m. April 19 that patrol officers responded to the 1100-block of Baltic Avenue in response to a ShotSpotter alert. Officers found evidence of gunfire but no injuries were reported.
Officers Christopher Campbell and Brandon Solano were patrolling the area looking for a possible suspect when they located the 17-year-old male. As the officers exited their vehicle, the juvenile fled but was quickly apprehended. He was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.
The Atlantic City suspect’s name was withheld because he is a juvenile.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose, and obstruction of justice, and was remanded to the Harborfields Detention Facility in Egg Harbor City.
